HostmySite

I thought that the HostmySite speaker today was very interesting. I found it refreshing that the company stayed true to it's good customer service, even though their rates are a bit higher.

A company I interned for this past summer was searching for a way to bringin some extra revenue and decided to do a similar service. This was not incredibly successful because of the lack of attention that was paid to the hosting service.

Teammate Comment

I recently commented on my one of my teammate's blog about how YoutTube has been baned in Thailand. I thought that is was an important reminder to us in the US how fortunate we are to have such a broad freedom of speech. Even though there are some borderline inappropriate material on YouTube, it does continue to be an intricate part of today's marketing world.

Wiki Edit

I recently made an edit on the Weight Watchers article. Just added some information on the process in which they use to determine target weight loss.

Slashdot

An article posted on the Slashdot blog caught my attention. It was titled RIAA Wins Worst Company in America 2007. The article states that it is ranked even lower than Halliburton...hmmm interesting. Some could argue that you couldn't get much lower than that. What I did find surprising was that among the other most hated companies Walmart was brought up. I believe that it is most likely to to the somewhat monopolistic control Walmart has taken, especially over the traditional "mom and pop" shops.

Comment

I posted on a teammates blog about the amount of money spent on advertising over the internet. I never knew it was such a large investment. Due to the ease and accessability of the internet I assumed that it wasn't as large of a cost.

Modern Marketing Blog

I really enjoyed one particular quote from an articl on the Modern Marketing Blog. I agree 100% with the statements about when shaing the market place it comes down to accepting change and adjusting to the culture of the market and not just business tools and skills in forecasting. This is very much so how I view marketing in the sense that its more about reading the people than it is something you read from a textbood. I guess that's why blogging is such an integral part in marketing because it can be so up to date, maybe.
